Gareth Bale’s Tottenham return hasn’t worked out so far and it appears Jose Mourinho is running out of patience with him.
The Welshman returned to Spurs last summer on a season-long loan after being frozen out at Real Madrid.
Bale has started just one Premier League match this season
He had a well-documented falling out with Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane but it appears the Spurs boss is now running out of patience with him.
Mourinho can be heard seemingly admonishing Bale during a recent training session with the video being shared on Spurs TV.
He can be heard saying: “You want to stay here? Or go to Real Madrid and play no football?”
The 31-year-old has made four Premier League appearances this season, scoring just one goal in the process.
It’s not clear Mourinho said this to Bale but it’s unlikely he was saying this to Sergio Reguilon
Bale left Spurs to join Real Madrid in 2013 for a then-world record fee of £85million, however, the final years of his Bernabeu stay were marred by his infamous off-pitch antics.
He was seen attempting the ‘bottle-flip challenge’ during one match, while putting his feet up and watching it through pretend binoculars.
The Wales international also caused controversy when holding a flag with the words ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.’
Mourinho revealed earlier this week that Tottenham hadn’t discussed extending Bale’s stay at Spurs ‘for a second’.
The Portuguese said: “There was not even a second of discussion about that.
A return to Zidane’s Real Madrid is the last thing Bale would need
“Gareth is a player who is on loan until the end of the season. There has not been one second of discussion.
“We are speaking about facts, Gareth himself, Real Madrid, Tottenham but I promise you not one second of discussion.”
But Mourinho still holds hope Bale can be a success on his second spell in north London.
He added: “Of course he arrived injured and he was injured for the first month.
“Then step by step, the Europa League matches were helping him to get his condition.
“In the Premier League he has not played many minutes and then another small injury at Stoke where he was having a good first half.
“Hes now coming back, its not an easy process. Everybody knows the past couple of seasons at Real Madrid were not easy for him.
“But lets go step by step and try to get the best out of him.”
